 Be Proactive!

What a marvel, our skin. It is the largest organ on the body. It delivers nutrients to our cells and hair follicles.  The skin interfaces with the environment and is the first line of defense from external factors. Your skin plays a key role in protecting your body against pathogens and excessive water loss. Our skin is very efficient, sometimes to our determent. If you put toxins on your scalp or skin it will distribute those as well.  Your internal organs and endocrine system will use the nutrients but have to filter and break down the toxins (chemicals, dyes, parabens, harsh preservatives etc.)

As amazing as the skin is, unfortunately you cannot exchange it for another one!  Modern science has allowed heart and other organ transplants but skin is not so easily replaced. A vital component that is needed for healthy hair and skin is Vitamin D.  Did you know the only natural source of vitamin D is the sun! Skincare products on the market are so heavily laden with chemicals, dyes, petroleum, mineral oil and silicon based components; they cannot and should not penetrate the epidermis. The majority of commercially produced cosmetic and personal care products are jam-packed with toxins that your skin wants to keep out! And the use of these chemical components causes moisture loss and dry prematurely aging skin.  Because these products sit on the surface coating and clogging the pores, they cannot carry nourishment to the bulb of the hair follicle or the second layer of skin called the dermis.  This is where the skin goes to work distributing the beneficial nutrients your body needs. Opal Hue products do not contain chemicals, dyes, parabens, alcohol, petroleum, mineral oil, silicon or fillers and because there is nothing to keep the product from penetrating to that critical second layer, there is nothing to prevent the ingredients from doing what they naturally were designed to do.

Vitamin C Serums

Vitamin C serums

Vitamin C is a free-radical fighter and helps produce collagen naturally. (Free radicals can cause damage to parts of cells such as proteins, DNA, and cell membranes by stealing their electrons through a process called oxidation).  These are some benefits of using a Vitamin C serum:

  • Acts as an antioxidant- oxidation damages the skin cells. Vitamin C serums are rich in antioxidants that repair and renew the cells and give the skin a healthy glow.

  • Helps produce collagen- Collagen binds the ells of our body.  Vitamin C serum stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, which gives you a tighter, firmer and less sagged feel.  It is a good first step solution to treat the onset of wrinkles.

  • Restores & regenerates- Vitamin C attacks the free radicals in your body and does hardcore damage management.  If you have acne scars from breakouts you’ll find them fading with regular application.

  • Protects from the sun- Overexposure can cause hyperpigmentation and sun spotting.  Vitamin C serum will counteract any harmful effect of the sun and decrease the chances of skin cancer by thickening the dermis layer.  *Note:  If you use sunscreen Vitamin C does not replace sunscreen.

Benefits of Colloidal Oatmeal for hair

  • Oatmeal is extremely moisturizing because it contains hair-loving B-vitamins, which act like humectants. It does this while penetrating the cortex of your hair.
  • Oatmeal can help fix damaged hair- it contributes to thickening/strengthening hair because of those B vitamins.  It makes your hair less brittle and more elastic.  This is a plus for curly and kinky (qoils) hair types since this hair is more prone to manipulation damage.
  • It makes your hair feel silky and soft.  Oatmeal contains Beta glucan which adds a nice slip to hair and acts as an emollient (softening agent)
  • Oatmeal is an excellent film former which is great for afro-textured, curly kinky hair. As it forms a lite film on the hair shaft it seals in moisture and provides a barrier to reduce tangles. This lite film washes easily and completely out with your shampoo.
  • Oatmeal helps your hair to have a natural shine.

8 Proven Colloidal Silver benefits

  1. Antibacterial

  2. Wound care/Skin Health

Robert O. Becker, MD, says that colloidal silver stimulates healing in the skin and other soft tissues. (8) In a research article produced by Pharmacognosy Communications in 2012, it was specifically recommended that certain colloidal silver preparations should be considered for topical use to treat burns, thrush, periodontitis and other conditions. (9)

For instance, you can treat ringworm (Tinea capitis) at home with colloidal silver because it’s a potent anti-fungal. Caused by a fungus that lives on the top layer of the skin, ringworm presents as round, scaly patches. It’s contagious and spread by skin contact and by contaminated materials, such as clothing.

Colloidal silver benefits many skins conditions such as psoriasis and eczema as well. It’s soothing to scrapes and even repairs tissue damage from burns.

3.  Pink Eye/Ear Infections

4.  Antiviral

5.   Anti-Inflammatory

Colloidal silver is also a fantastic anti-inflammatory remedy. Case in point: Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) studied the effects of inflammation after being treated by colloidal silver; they found that the inflamed skin of pigs treated with silver experienced near-normal skin after 72 hours, while other treatment groups not treated with silver remained inflamed. (11)

Research is beginning to reflect what many people have already known anecdotally for years — that colloidal silver can reduce swelling, speed healing, and boosts cell recovery!

6.  Sinusitis

7.  Cold/Flu

8.   Pneumonia
